HUDSON, Texas (KTRE) -San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt is hopeful to soon be retuning to the baseball field.
Belt hurt his knee late June and the team was worried it might require surgery. The news since has been more optimistic.
“A few days later I woke up and it was feeling a lot better,” Belt said. “Now we are just doing rehab. I feel like I will be back towards the end of this month or early August.”
The Hudson native was in town over the All-Star break to get rest and work on the plans for his upcoming $100,000 bass fishing tournament. The Giants are in a tight race for the NL West, having the best record in baseball and a two-game lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
“I have been a part of a lot of great teams but to me this might be the best chemistry we have ever had in a clubhouse that I have been a part of,” Belt said. “We are deep. We have great pitching, great defense and a very deep lineup.”
