Former Brentwood Academy receiver Cam Johnson, who is headed into his senior season at Vanderbilt with some lofty expectations place on him, is on the cover of the 2021 Athlon Sports SEC regional magazine cover.
The magazine, published in Nashville, says Johnson, along with fellow receivers Amir Abdur-Rahman and Chris Pierce Jr. are “probably the strength of the offense.”
Johnson led the Commodores with 56 catches for 545 yards and three touchdowns last season.
Rahman and Pierce combined for 52 catches, 777 yards and six touchdowns.
As high as Athlon is on Johnson, not much is expected from the Commodores. They are picked last in the SEC East and 90th in the magazine’s ranking of all 130 FBS teams.
Offensive lineman Tyler Steen and punter Harrison Smith are the only players on Athlon’s All-SEC Teams and they are on the fourth team.
