BIG RAPIDS – Mike Underwood directed a Big Rapids Middle School bass fishing club this spring, which turned out to be a success.
“I had two middle school kids,” Underwood said, referring to Owen Strickler and Bryce Selzer. “I took them out for three tournaments this season,” Underwood said. “It happened at the end of April and three Saturdays in a row, one on Gunn Lake and two on Muskegon Lake.”
Both lakes are located in Muskegon County.
Both students were eighth graders who now enter the high school level. Underwood worked with those two boys.
“They were both at the Ultimate Sports Show last year and found out about this tournament series they were doing. They asked me to be their coach/boat driver, I guess you could say,” Underwood recalled.
They competed in a middle school/high school bass fishing club circuit.
