Rockford is a fishing oxymoron: Our town is full of fishermen, but many of the most ardent outdoorsy types head north to Wisconsin when they want to cast a line. But what if you only want to get away for the afternoon? Where are the best places to fish near Rockford?
Well, most of the lists for best places to fish in Illinois only mention a couple of places anywhere near Rockford. The top spot on almost any list is Lake Michigan. That’s good for Chicago. Not so good for Rockford. But we do have some good spots.
