He worked as an elevator mechanic for many years, while also owning various businesses such as a bass fishing tournament circuit (Big Bucks Bass), an elevator company (Elevator Works), an internet retail service (Nuclear Sales) and a flower shop (Little Leaf). Pete embodied the American dream. He worked hard and was successful in all entrepreneurial endeavors but always made sure he had time to relax, especially in his favorite place, the US Virgin Islands.
