McKinney, Texas—At just 52 years old, Kevin Lopez is fighting for his life. Living with heart disease since age 35, Kevin is a retired police officer and former undercover police detective as well as a former firefighter and Air Force veteran who will need a heart transplant to survive. His family is reaching out to the Dallas-Ft Worth community for assistance to bring the gift of new life within reach so he can be the dad and grandfather he needs to be.


In 2005, when Kevin was just 35, he experienced his first heart attack while on duty as an undercover police detective. Since then, Kevin has experienced an astonishing 19 heart attacks in addition to a stroke, two defibrillator/pacemaker implants, and 22 defibrillator shocks to restore his heart. Today, he is on the waiting list for a new heart.
