CASPER, Wyo. — Record heat is possible in western and central Wyoming over the weekend, and the high temperatures are expected to lead to increased snowmelt, according to the National Weather Service in Riverton.

“It is likely most small streams and creeks, and possibly main stem rivers, will reach their highest level this season from snowmelt by early to middle of next week,” the NWS in Riverton said. “Currently only bankfull conditions or minor low-land flooding is expected in a few locations. People along small streams that have been impacted by floods in the past should be prepared for rapid water rises this weekend into early next week.
