San Joaquin BassMasters send two high school anglers to Nationals

For the first time since the club’s founding in 2019, the San Joaquin BassMasters had two of its members qualify for The Bass Federation National High School / Worldwide Bass Fishing Tournament.

Mateo Garcia and Ian Maynard will be representing the club and the 209 following a stellar outing on May 13 at the TBF High School State Championships. The duo wrangled in 19 pounds and 26 ounces of fish to take home first place. The first high school state championship victory for the SJ BassMasters.

“We heard our names called in first place and we were honestly really just shocked,” Garcia said. “ It took a while to process but it was definitely exciting. Once that settled in now we’re just honed in on nationals.”
