This Minnesota man didn’t forget to set the hook. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Fish and Wildlife division highlighted one Twin Cities man for breaking his state record for a Black Crappie in back-to-back months!

Our next record fish highlight is a fan favorite: black crappie!

Nolan Sprengeler of Plymouth, MN, caught this whopping 16.25″ black crappie in April (left). The man was on a mission though and broke his own record again in May with a 17.5″ black crappie (right). The May crappie was certified at 3 lbs, 8.9 oz.

Nolan Sprengeler of Plymouth beat his previous state record, one set in April, in May by more than an inch!

The April record was a 16.25-inch black crappie, and last month he found another monster, shattering his previous record when he caught a 17.5-inch black crappie, weighing in at more than 3 and a half pounds!
