CASPER, Wyo. — Wild horses and burros gentled with the help of inmates will be up for adoption on Saturday, May 14 at the Wyoming Honor Farm, located at 40 Honor Farm Road, about a mile north of Riverton.
There will be about 50 horses and burros up for adoption, including 38 saddle-started horses, according to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Wyoming. Other animals up for adoption will include halter-started yearling horses and gentled burros. The animals all originate from Wyoming public lands.
People can preview the available horses and burros from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Friday, with a training demonstration set to begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Wyoming Honor Farm. Gates will open at 8 a.m. Saturday, with the competitive bid adoption set to begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, according to BLM Wyoming.
