SHASTA LAKE, Calif. — Fishermen from all over the west coast are coming for a two-day bass fishing tournament held at Shasta Lake, despite the storms that have swept through the Northstate.
Over 140 fishermen are coming into town and gearing up for the NewJen fishing tournament, which kicks off Saturday morning.
KRCR spoke with the owner and creator of this bass tournament, Jennifer Price. “Fishing in the rain can be absolutely great. Some of the guys who get their best catches; make the best memories in the pouring rain like this.”
Between 140 and 150 fishermen are coming to this NewJen bass tournament at Shasta Lake and competing for over a $42,000 prize.
There are other variables that the tournament takes into account to ensure the fisherman’s safety during these types of storms. “We have three different variables that we’d take into account. Safety is our number-one concern. Low visibility, lightning, and high winds can create any delays or advisories that we might have,”…
