Kansas high school, youth anglers compete at pair of bass tournaments in Missouri

Topeka twins Nick and Kyle Herrman hold up their five-fish limit during the weigh-in Nov. 7 for a Kansas BASS Nation high school fishing tournament on Pomme de Terre Lake in Hermitage, Mo. The siblings finished second with 10.85 pounds of fish.

A pair of Topeka siblings secured the runner-up spot during one of two high school bass fishing events last weekend in Missouri.

The pair of tournaments kicked off the newly introduced Big Lake Division of the Kansas BASS Nation’s high school and youth fishing circuits this season.

Grant Matthews and Wyatt Eidson, of Basehor-Linwood, took home the top prize in the first tournament of the weekend Nov. 6 on Stockton Lake in Stockton, Mo., weighing a 10.57-pound bag for the victory.

Franklin County’s Todd Crosley and Austin Curtis, representing OutCast Bass Club, finished second with 6.70 pounds, while Legacy Christian’s Ryder Mains and Mason Chapman finished third with 6.32.
