Cleveland Masonic Lodge 202 in Shelby is calling all avid fishers to participate in the inaugural Charity Bass Fishing Tournament May 22.

Chris Canipe and Bryan Gordon are members of the masonic lodge and encourage all of Cleveland County to test their luck in the catch and release tourney.

“Each boat is made up of two competitors, and they fish as a team and each team can weigh in five fish,” said Gordon. “The team with the highest weight in five fish will win first, second and third. The biggest fish weighed in will get a special prize.”

All proceeds will benefit the Masonic Home for Children in Oxford, the North Carolina Masonic Foundation and retirement community WhiteStone.

Gordon said they opted to have some fun on the water because it’s becoming difficult to get competitors for golf tournaments.
