Due to high water on the Ouachita River, Lazarre Park is closed. The Big Bass Fishing Tournament is now moving their registration and main weigh-in site to the Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe.

Registration for the tournament is $95 for one day and $170 for two days, with all the proceeds benefiting the Ronald McDonald House in Monroe. They say it’s their largest fundraiser of the year.

“This tournament enables us to provide a home away from home for families with children in the hospital,” says Ronald McDonald House director Georgia Street. “So it’s really important to us, but not only is it important from the aspect of the financial means but the comradery of the fishermen coming back year after year.”

The first day of fishing starts Saturday, June 8, and goes until Sunday, June 9. They’ll have weigh-ins each hour with cash prizes for the largest fish caught each hour. The largest fish in the tournament nets a $10,000 check and bragging rights.
